Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Chief Nursing & Midwifery Officer is a key member of the Northland DHB’s Executive Leadership Team. The role provides an exciting opportunity to lead change and improvement for Nursing and Midwifery across the Northland health sector. The DHB provides health services to a population of over 180,000 people, with a vision of ‘A Healthier Northland’. This can only be achieved by working in partnership under the Treaty of Waitangi, to improve population health and reduce inequities, improve patient experience, keep their staff well and live within their means.
Northland DHB has over 3,000 staff and also funds most of Northland’s community health services with close partnerships with primary care, NGOs and Māori health providers. They are developing very strong relationships and programmes with other social sector agencies.
This role will suit an experienced clinical leader in the health sector, exceptionally strong in relationship building, having well developed networks, and a strong understanding of the health needs of Northland and its peoples. As an executive role, the position will also suit people who are able to achieve outcomes in a complex environment and be a strategic contributor to the Executive Leadership Team. Other key attributes include a being good listener with empathy, a voice for Nursing and Midwifery, and with the ability to make decisions.
