Chief Financial Officer

Reference Number: 746103

Location: Auckland

The Bakels Group of Companies encompasses around 40 businesses across the globe. Within New Zealand the Group has two companies: NZ Bakels (located in Penrose, Auckland) which leads the market in the supply of bakery ingredients; and Bakels Edible Oils (located in Mt Maunganui) – a fast-growing business that supplies various fats and oils to the New Zealand food industry. Turnover for the businesses is around $250M and they employee over 300 staff across the two sites. These are profitable businesses with many long-tenured employees who enjoy working in successful companies that provide a high degree of consistency and stability.

Reporting to the Managing Directors of both companies, the CFO takes responsibility for the Finance, Administration and IT functions, including reporting, financial planning, risk management, legal, taxation, treasury and foreign exchange management. While the bulk of the CFO’s team is Auckland-based, there will be frequent travel to Mt Maunganui. While the finance function is in good shape and well run, there is room to modernise through the use of technology to improve some of the manual processes currently in place.

To be considered for this role you will be an experienced accountant, professionally qualified and be able to discuss your experience in the following areas:

  • Working in a manufacturing environment
  • ERP system implementation or significant upgrades
  • Tech savvy, possibly with prior responsibility for the IT function of a business
  • Partnering with the CEO/MD to create opportunities for business growth
  • Leading and managing teams of high performing employees
  • Creating added value for businesses by identifying opportunities for growth and/or cost savings

This role offers a great deal of variety. The characteristics of the two companies are very different and they have different requirements, so an adaptable and flexible approach is important. In return you will be rewarded with a remuneration package that includes a fully maintained vehicle, health insurance for you and your family, generous company superannuation contribution and bonus.
