Business Development Manager - DEC International NZ Ltd

DEC International NZ Ltd (DEC) is an innovative manufacturing and technology group based in Hamilton, New Zealand. Family owned, it has a proud history consisting of two manufacturing facilities; DEC Plastics, experts in high-end technical injection moulding; and DEC Pharmaceutical, experts in controlled drug release technologies.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager and working alongside another Business Development Manager you will be responsible for driving new business to the DEC Plastics business. DEC Plastics is the preferred supplier for some of the world’s leading medical device and animal health companies, collaborating with its customers to design, create and produce innovative products that meet the highest of quality standards.

As the Business Development Manager your key accountabilities will include the following:

  • New business growth – identifying and securing new customers for DEC International.
  • Nurturing and managing existing accounts, ensuring that an excellent level of customer service is always provided.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key industry bodies.
  • Collaborate effectively with the wider team and business to maximise opportunities for the business.
  • Report back to the business on a weekly basis showing high levels of accuracy with regards to forecasting.

This is a very entrepreneurial business, so you will have a similar mindset with an ability to build strong, meaningful relationships with your customers. You will also possess the following experience and competencies:

  • Prior experience of working in human health, animal health or plastic moulding fields.
  • Business to business sales experience with a strong track record of new business acquisition.
  • Hunger to succeed and strong self-motivation coupled with the ability to work closely with your team members.
  • Ability to qualify and disqualify opportunities, ensuring that the business’s resources are being used efficiently.
  • Strong pipeline management ability, good understanding of the sales process.
