Stroke Foundation is a charitable organisation committed to supporting those affected by stroke, and helping all New Zealanders keep safe from stroke. With a head office in Wellington and working across New Zealand, the team at Stroke Foundation’s vision is to create a New Zealand where significant steps are taken to reduce the number of strokes, where key risk factors are understood, and where anyone affected by stroke is supported and empowered.  Preventing strokes, improving outcomes, and saving lives is central to Stroke Foundation’s mission.

Currently Stroke Foundation Board is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Chief Executive.  The incoming Chief Executive will lead their team in building on its existing strengths and reputation, and drive delivery on its  strategic priorities. As such, the Chief Executive will be instrumental in ensuring all of the Foundation’s activities are in line with the collective needs of those it serves.

Briefly, the requirements for the Chief Executive are as follows:

  • A thought leader; practically innovative with an engaging energy and enthusiasm;
  • A strategic mindset that can be pragmatically applied;
  • Enhanced communication and relationship development capabilities to strengthen partnerships between the Foundation and its stakeholders;
  • A collaborative style and approach in building meaningful partnerships with government, Foundation supporters and community members;
  • Operational nous, strong people leadership and effective oversight of a dynamic, dispersed team
