Knox College is a residential college affiliated to the University of Otago in Dunedin accommodating up to 262 residents and shares a 4.57-hectare landscaped site with Salmond College. Privately owned and run independently from the university, it is governed by The Board of Knox College and Salmond College, a body with links to the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand. Knox College, Te Kāreti o Knox, founded in 1909, is one of New Zealand's oldest and best-known residential colleges, steeped in history with a reputation for academic excellence.
Working closely with the Board, the Head is responsible for the strategic leadership and administration of the College, the welfare of its students, and further development of the unique character of Knox College. The role works in a collaborative manner with the Head of Salmond College in sharing the management responsibilities for the whole campus and the staff who work across both colleges. Key will be the development of strategies required to lead the College ensuring it remains relevant to the modern student without losing the history and traditions, whilst continuing to provide a safe supportive student environment with a strong academic reputation.
