The Court Theatre is New Zealand's largest and most successful theatre company producing 19 productions a year and renowned for celebrating and commissioning original New Zealand plays.  The Court has matched the ever-diversifying Christchurch population and creates and supports work for everyone in the community including children and families, Tangata Whenua and Christchurch’s growing Pasifika communities.

The Court has something for everyone, those who want their entertainment king-sized and world class,  those who want to sit back and enjoy a good laugh, and those who want theatre to challenge, to spark debate and to stay in their mind long after the show has finished.  The Court creates, and helps create, work for all the people of Ōtautahi.  The Court belongs to the audience.

The Court sustains a full-time professional staff and an ensemble acting company and is administered by The Court Theatre Trust.

The Trust is currently seeking to appoint an additional Trustee to the Trust Board.  We seek interest from individuals with an appreciation of the theatre who possess a well-developed level of business/commercial acumen with strong community and business connections and previous knowledge and experience of working at a governance level.

Preference is for a qualified Accountant who has experience with Audit and Risk Committee activities.  Alternatively, the Appointments Committee will consider candidates with specialist expertise in the finance sector or broader commercial experience.

The ability of any potential Trustee candidate to add to the diversity of the Board, in terms of gender, ethnicity, age or other factors, will be important when making a decision on the appointment.

  • Our search was more than just replacing a Council CE, we wanted a change leader that could assist the Mayor and Council in operational pivoting Palmerston North City into a new direction. This required an Executive search for our Council CE through the Local Government, public and private sectors.
