BestStart is a significant national provider of early childhood education and care, with 260 early learning centres across the country, serving over 8,000 families. BestStart are for families who want more from early-childhood education. They are now seeking to appoint a Christchurch based General Manager to lead their extensive network throughout the South Island.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and a key member of the senior management team, the appointee will bring a strong commercial focus on driving positive results, ensuring there is a clear and effective strategy for the region whilst working closely with the South Island management team to build capability, enhance engagement and lead the organisation to new levels of success.
Based at the company’s office in Christchurch, the role is responsible for:
• Developing a high performing team that can build, adapt and succeed.
• Leading day to day operations.
• Providing strategic direction and drive through empowerment.
• Championing excellence and best practice.
• Delivering on regional EBIT targets and other KPI’s.
• Developing and implementing improvement to secure short and long-term success.
As the company furthers its growth throughout the South Island this will be a key leadership role focussed on exceeding expectations through delivery of the best outcomes, with a strong partnership focus.
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate considerable experience in managing complex multi-site operations with sizeable teams. While an affinity for education would be an advantage more important is your business savvy, financial and commercial acumen. Sound evidence of a values-based collaborative leadership style with exceptional EQ will be critical as you seek to create a new culture of increased accountability, collaboration and a focus on quality outcomes.
