About The School:
Proud of their diversity, and with a commitment to fostering personal excellence, Te Kura o Waimairi-iri Burnside High School is a state coeducational secondary school situated in the northwest of Christchurch City.
Opened in 1960, the school’s catchment area includes parts of the Avonhead, Russley, Burnside, Fendalton and Ilam residential areas and reflects a wide range of socio-economic groups.
With a roll of 2600 students supported by 160 teachers and staff, it is the largest coeducational school in the South Island.
About The Role:
The Executive Assistant’s key function is supporting the Principal to be effective in his role by facilitating and managing the smooth running of the Principal’s office and lightening his load.
You will closely support the Principal, providing executive support with his busy schedule, anticipating what is required for the coming day, week and month, planning, organising and gatekeeping so he can focus on leading the school. You will assist the Principal in his role as Chief Executive to the Board of Trustees.
Matching the Principal’s energy and working at pace, you will handle a complex range of projects, with a focus on “keeping the plates spinning” and getting things done. From managing communication, documentation and workflow, to supporting the team, events coordination, managing social media platforms and complex projects, no two days will be the same, requiring flexibility and responsiveness to cover all the bases.
Skills & Experience:
As the successful candidate you will be experienced in providing a high standard of executive service and office administration. You will approach the role with complete confidentiality, and support and model the school values, demonstrating unfailing integrity and professionalism at all times.
In addition, you will have:
- Initiative and be innovative, anticipating the needs of the Principal before he does and applying creative solutions
- Exceptional interpersonal and people skills, including demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- Well-developed planning and strategic organisational skills including the ability to prioritise effectively
- Advanced computer literacy skills, producing professional documents with accuracy and with skills in using AI to improve efficiency
- Team leadership experience
- High levels of motivation, working accurately under pressure to specified deadlines, and delegating tasks as necessary
- High standards of delivery, including accuracy, attention to detail and professional communication.
