Chief Executive

Reference Number: 756437aa

Location: Auckland

  • Life without limits. Kahore e Mutunga ki te Ora.

The Blind Foundation is New Zealand’s main provider of practical and emotional support for the tens of thousands of Kiwis who are blind or have low vision, enabling them to face their future with confidence. Established over 125 years ago, the Foundation employs around 340 staff across its 18 sites, making it one of New Zealand’s largest and most complex Not For Profit organisations.

Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Chair, the CE leads the organisation to ensure it can meet the current and future requirements of its stakeholders and provide a high-quality service to its clients. Critical to this is the ability to drive a culture of excellence and accountability, ensuring that the key objectives of the Foundation are met through a client-centred approach with a focus on securing the long-term sustainability of the Foundation.

We are interested in talking to exceptional leaders who can talk about their experience and ability in the following areas:

  • Leading and managing large national organisations in the service delivery sector.
  • Initiating and executing transformation and change in complex organisations.
  • Driving productivity; creating and managing high performing teams.
  • Understanding government funding mechanisms and building relationships with key stakeholders.

While you may not have worked in the disability sector previously it is essential that you have an understanding of, and empathy with, matters pertaining to blindness, deafblindness and low vision.

We would be grateful if you could please submit your CV and cover letter in MS Word format as this will assist in ensuring that your application is as accessible as possible when being reviewed by the Foundation.

To apply in strict confidence now, please complete the ‘apply for this job’ application form, attaching your cover letter and CV. Applications close on 25 February 2019 at 8.00am. Emails will be electronically acknowledged and further correspondence may be by email.
