About the Role

The University of Waikato | Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato seeks a visionary and entrepreneurial leader for the pivotal role of Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Division of STEM.

Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor you will lead a diverse Division driving a world-class portfolio of education and research. As a key member of the executive team, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Division and contribute to university-wide strategy.
  • Drive academic programme development to increase student numbers and enhance teaching quality.
  • Foster a creative, research-driven culture that elevates the Division's reputation and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Lead, recruit, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a supportive and inclusive culture.
  • Ensure effective management of all divisional resources and build key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, government, and iwi.
     

What You Will Bring | He Kōrero Mōu

We are looking for a distinguished leader with:

  • A PhD and a personal record of distinction and achievement in one of the disciplinary areas relevant to the Division.
  • A proven track record in senior academic or organisational leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of the tertiary sector and its funding environment.
  • The ability to drive growth, lead change, and manage significant budgets.
  • Exceptional communication skills, a collaborative leadership style, and a genuine commitment to our values, including partnership with Māori.
