Established in 1917, MTA has grown from a small organisation to become a trusted brand and the largest automotive industry body in New Zealand, representing over 3,800 automotive businesses and acting as a strong advocate for the sector. In over 100 years, our mission has remained unchanged – to create a sustainable business advantage for members, and provide leadership within our industry.
Now as the automotive industry undergoes the biggest change in 100 years, MTA has developed a bold strategic plan that will equip and support members to thrive in this new environment. Key to this strategy are two new roles which are fundamental to success and offer the opportunity to guide this trusted organisation on the next exciting phase of its journey.
The way New Zealanders move is changing. EVs and hybrid vehicles are a common sight on our roads. The infrastructure to support them is growing apace. Consumers are increasingly environmentally aware, and consider sustainability as part of their purchasing choices. Good business now includes decisions around recycling, waste disposal, paperless systems and carbon footprint.
As the national fleet evolves, we are looking at how we, as a membership organisation, can embrace sustainability, protect our environment, and make a difference for generations. This requires us to transform into an organisation that will develop, adopt and execute modern sustainability principles, while supporting and inspiring our members to do the same.
With this in mind, we are seeking to appoint a Sustainability Manager to inspire, lead and guide the organisation through this reinvention. With strong executive and board support, this greenfield role will apply a sustainability lens to everything we do. A crucial focus for this role will be to support and guide members to succeed as our industry changes.
Great candidates for this position will be passionate about sustainability and have a commitment to deliver meaningful change. Experience in business case development with a sustainability lens is important, as well as an operational background in embedding and delivering these kinds of programs. As an accomplished communicator with diverse audiences, you will be comfortable overcoming resistance, challenging conventional thinking, and working collaboratively with a range of internal partners.
