Following the catchment of the Rangitikei River and located primarily in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region, the Rangitikei District Council provides core council services to (approximately) 15,000 local residents. With a main office in Marton and service centres in Bulls and Taihape, RDC is a proactive organisation with a focus on growing vibrant, attractive towns, and ensuring good access to a range of community services.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Principal Advisor – Infrastructure will provide expert advice to the Executive and Council, ensuring optimal management of infrastructure assets and delivery of services. In addition, this role will lead in the development and delivery of RDC’s infrastructure strategy, ensuring a robust approach across long planning horizons. As infrastructure services are currently provided to RDC under a shared services agreement with Manawatu District Council, the Advisor will also own key external relationships with stakeholders and contracting partners in the wider region.
Preferred candidates for the role will have a background in asset management and planning with, ideally, expertise in three waters management. Sound business acumen and a knowledge of contract/procurement disciplines will also be important in this newly created role. Given the range of stakeholders relevant to the position, an ability to engage effectively with elected members, the community and external parties will also be crucial to success. For those wanting to contribute their expertise and grow their career in an exciting local government setting, this role represents a compelling next career step.
