THE COMPANY:
Established in Dunedin in 1867, NZ Express Transport (NZE) is possibly New Zealand’s oldest transport company. Nowadays, based in Christchurch, it operates a comprehensive fleet of modern heavy vehicles, focusing on Christchurch and Canterbury metropolitan cartage in addition to providing warehousing and container packing/unpacking services. Its impressive 30,000 square metre purpose built site (completed in 2014) is a MPI approved transitional facility for unpacking import containers and includes a NZ Customs licensed examination area. NZ Express’ clients are predominantly in the manufacturing and industrial sectors and it is the largest road transport carrier of containers on and off the Lyttelton Port.
THE ROLE:
With the impending retirement of the current General Manager, NZE seeks a new GM to continue to maximise the potential of the business, drive operational and productivity enhancements, secure business growth opportunities and build strong relationships with Lyttleton Port Company, key stakeholders and customers. Providing motivational leadership and direction to approx. 60 staff (via 4 direct reports) the GM will further develop NZE’s exceptional reputation for exemplary customer service and ensure that NZE continually maintains its proactive focus in a largely reactive industry environment.
