Greater Christchurch Schools Network Trust (GCSN) is a Charitable Trust formed in 2010. Its purpose is to develop, support and promote a range of collaborative e-learning practices in the greater Christchurch region to increase student learning outcomes. The focus of the GCSN is on creating a community of connected schools, teaching professionals and educational resources in the greater Christchurch region, with a view to closing the digital divide and supporting the education of teachers to use e-learning in the classroom. GCSN has the support of the Primary, Intermediate and Secondary Schools Principals Associations, as well as the Ministry of Education and key educational institutions.

THE JOB:

This role will support the achievement of the strategic and operational goals of GCSN by providing effective operational leadership and direction to the Trust; the effective identification and management of key projects; develop effective relationships with key stakeholders and schools to identify opportunities for GCSN to provide value to schools and to close the digital divide; the use of technology as an enabler for teaching and learning.

  • Operational Planning and General Management: Responsible for the day to day operational running of the Trust, working closely with the board to develop and implement the annual programme and budget
  • Leadership of Contractors and supervision as necessary to deliver agreed project outcomes
  • Project Development and Management: The identification of new projects and the coordination of existing projects that are designed to meet the needs of schools to close the gaps for teaching and learning
  • Business Development and Stakeholder Relationship Management: Develop strong relationships with Principals and Senior Managers of the greater Christchurch schools area, also with key stakeholders, potential partners and funders.
  • Innovation and Pioneering:  Leading the way to identify gaps, propose solutions and deliver creative new ways to enhance e-learning in the digital age. 

THE CANDIDATE:

This role will be best suited to an independent contractor looking for around 15 hours of work per week. The successful candidate will likely have senior management experience within the education sector, keep up to date with quality teaching and learning trends and will be reasonably IT savvy with credibility in the e-learning space. Ideally, we seek someone who is well networked in the education sector, has strong operational management skills and experience in leading large projects across a variety of stakeholders. You will be proactive by nature, you will see opportunities, you will have highly developed communication and relationship management skills and people will describe you as a natural facilitator and connector.
