Location: Auckland

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) is hosting the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2021. As part of the planning for, and delivery of the event, NZC is establishing an Independent Board to provide governance and direction to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Tournament. Sheffield Search is assisting NZC’s Board Appointments Panel to facilitate this process.

The newly-created board will be made up of six members; two current NZC Directors, two members of the NZC Executive Team and two Independent Directors. It is envisaged one of the Independent Directors will chair the board.

NZC invites applications from suitably qualified individuals of all genders, for the roles of Independent Director. Successful applicants will possess proven governance leadership skills that will assist in ensuring an outstanding event, a lasting legacy for women’s sport, and the showcasing of New Zealand. In addition to a strong background in governance, a passion for women’s sport and an understanding of the role it plays in developing strong communities are vital. Other experience being sought includes relevant networks in central government, innovation around community and fan engagement, marketing/brand management, and digital/technology.

NZC has a vision of cricket being a game for all New Zealanders and is committed to encouraging diversity and inclusivity, recognising the importance of breaking down barriers to participation and engagement, and driving new, positive attitudes and behaviours across sport. The successful staging of this event presents a unique opportunity to display these values in action.
