We aren't looking for a Principal, we’re looking for a Manukura extraordinaire.

You won't just be leading a school you’ll be joining a whānau in the heart of East Christchurch and we look forward to welcoming you.

A culturally diverse community, innovative learning design, a holistic approach to wellbeing and a commitment to all ākonga being successful - is this your type of whānau?

You'll need to be keen to collaborate and live our school values of:

What makes Haeata special and unique:

  • Our Curriculum - personalising learning pathways for each and every ākonga by encouraging and supporting them to explore and engage in their interests and passions.  Learning is shaped by these interests and is guided by the NZ Curriculum.  Tuakana is the learning community for Year 8-14 ākonga.  Teina is the learning community for Year 0-7 ākonga.
  • Kōmanawa - Years 0-7 Bilingual Unit, the heart of our kura.  Kōmanawa is dedicated to the revitalisation of Te Reo me ōna tikanga Māori and supporting our ākonga to be successful as Māori and confident communicators in two languages.
  • Modern learning facilities - designed to accommodate groups of different sizes and collaboration between classes, age-groups and kaiako.
  • Haeata Community Campus Services Programme - a programme to support ākonga who wish to explore a career in any of Aotearoa’s forces (military, police, navy, fire etc.)  This programme is supported by both the Ministry of Education and the New Zealand Defence Force's Youth Development Unit.
