Reference Number: 003573aa
Location: Palmerston North
Palmerston North is a vibrant, progressive and ambitious city. The city is experiencing growth in all sectors, and competes with other regional centres amidst technological and demographic change for capital, talent and visitors.
In this context Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) provides services to 90,000 residents, employing 600 staff across a broad range of functions. PNCC is leading a bold new vision for Palmerston North: small city benefits, big city ambition that will help the metro achieve its potential, capitalise on its strengths, and thrive in the future. To support its transformation, PNCC is currently seeking expressions of interest for the following unique career and lifestyle opportunity.
An integral member of the People and Performance team, and reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager will work with other senior managers to develop and maintain an enduring safety culture. This is a new role at PNCC, and will therefore create new paradigms in health, safety and wellbeing as part of its wider transformation program. Leading a team of 3, you and your team will enable behaviours that support all staff to thrive at work.
Preferred candidates for this role will be experienced in managing health and safety systems in a large organisation, with the ability to develop health and safety change management strategies, plans and policies. A background in local government is preferred but not essential. However, you must have demonstrated expertise in analysing complex issues and successfully developing and implementing creative customer-centric initiatives.
