Medbury School, established in 1923, is recognised by parents and educators as one of Australasia’s leading independent preparatory schools for boys from Years 1 to 8. Located in Christchurch, New Zealand, the school caters for more than 400 day boys and boarders. With small class sizes, Medbury School provides individual attention and support to each boy, attracting highly talented staff who inspire achievement and are dedicated to “unlocking every boy’s potential”. The school enjoys a self-contained campus, offers a wide array of extra-curricular activities and has a strong school spirit underpinned by traditional Christian values. Medbury School actively pursues educational excellence, encouraging a school environment where achievement is applauded and a place in the choir is as much sought after as a place in a sports team.
This role will assist the Headmaster in ensuring the school is able to meet the needs of 21st century learners by providing a progressive, academically rich and student-centred educational experience. Equally, he/she will foster the traditions, values and ethos of Medbury which provide so much of its strength and defining character.
We seek applications from experienced, enthusiastic and inspiring educationalists, with a collaborative leadership style, strong values and excellent relationship skills, to lead motivated and experienced staff. Proven academic programme development skills and a positive team focus are essential, along with analytical skills in the use of data to inform decisions. A deep understanding of boys and their education is essential, and experience as a staff member or pupil in the independent school sector would be advantageous.
