Workplace Support – Enhancing Workplace Wellbeing

Workplace Support is an independent Employee Assistance and Wellbeing Services Provider offering a range of specialist services to support employees and management in organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand.  Their vision is to see workplaces in Aotearoa/New Zealand that are healthy and fulfilling places which promote the value, personal dignity and well-being of everyone at work.

Many organisations now recognise the need to proactively champion good mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. Workplace Support makes providing quality, easily accessible support to employees straightforward. Their approach favours early, pre-emptive support alongside acute mental health assistance when needed.

The Workplace Support flagship model of support ensures that teams are supported across their whole wellbeing journey. Firstly, through preventative dedicated Staff Support presence to prevent issues from escalating whilst enabling employees to remain at work. Follow-on wellbeing services support both employees or management with specialist assistance.  Employees have access to  Wellbeing Services such as Counselling, Financial Guidance and Planning, and Career Direction. Management have access to wellbeing services designed specifically to support the direct business needs such as Professional Supervision, Critical Incident Response and Alcohol and Drug Intervention.

About The Role: 

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Finance Manager is responsible for the finance functions of Workplace Support.  Working across the organisation and closely with the Chief Executive, this position will provide timely and accurate financial accounting and business performance reporting, ensuring the organisation is aware of and complies with all financial obligations.

The position will be focussed on:

  • Financial Management
  • Financial and Business Performance Reporting
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Managing projects
  • Providing advice and support and building strong relationships across the organisation
  • Contributing effectively to the Workplace Support team.


Skills & Experience: 

This role requires:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial accounting role
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Someone with an outcome focus and high energy, who demonstrates empathy and a high level of self-awareness
  • Excellent analytical capability, including the ability to interpret data
  • Strong Excel skills and commercially savvy, with attention to detail
  • An in-depth understanding of financial reporting and accountability requirements, financial management and processes and a strong results orientation
  • A high level of integrity that builds trust and confidence
  • A person who can work collaboratively within a team, to think strategically and demonstrate a practical, hands-on approach
  • Commitment to organisational excellence and continuous improvement in self and others
  • Effective problem-solving skills and skilled at providing advice and support
  • Strong people skills and the ability to communicate with, and gain the trust and respect of, staff at all levels
  • An understanding and empathy with a mission-based service, being open to working in a Church based service organisation and to be confident in participating in spiritual or reflective sharing.

Experience in the NFP sector would be an advantage.
