EA for Board, CE and Leadership

West Coast

  • New high trust role at the heart of Coast Waters leadership
  • Provide high-calibre governance and executive support
  • West Coast based with real community impact

About the Company:

Coast Waters is a newly established, purpose-built water services organisation bringing together the water services teams of Buller, Grey and Westland District Councils into a single, unified workforce. Operating across a geographically long, diverse and often challenging region, Coast Waters manages an extensive network of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater assets, underpinned by significant council investment programmes over the next decade and beyond.

Coast Waters exists to provide safe, reliable and sustainable water services that help West Coast communities thrive. Their work is grounded in service, stewardship and partnership, with a focus on building resilient infrastructure, supporting community wellbeing and creating a positive future for the region.

About The Role:

This is a pivotal support role to the Board, Chief Executive and leadership team of a brand-new organisation. The EA will enable the CE, leadership team and Board to operate with clarity, pace and confidence, ensuring the office runs in a professional and efficient way, and that governance support for the Board - including scheduling and the preparation of agendas and papers - is managed to an exceptional standard.

Responsibilities include proactively managing the CE, leadership team and Board's priorities and diaries; coordinating events and meetings across the region; preparing and quality-assuring high-calibre Board and Committee agendas, papers, minutes and action schedules; and acting as a trusted, discreet point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including Council representatives and iwi partners.

Ideal Candidate:

You will bring significant experience providing executive-level support to a Chief Executive, Board or senior leadership team within a complex organisational environment, along with a strong understanding of governance practices and experience coordinating Board and Committee processes (knowledge of BoardPro is an advantage).

With advanced Microsoft 365 skills, exceptional prioritisation and communication abilities, you will thrive operating under pressure in a dynamic environment. You will have high levels of integrity and discretion, able to stay diplomatic, keep things confidential and use your good judgement.

A natural problem-solver who stays cool under pressure, your strong team and customer-centric focus mean you'll be just as committed to keeping the office running smoothly as you will be supporting the CE and Board.

A full, valid New Zealand driver's licence is required, along with a willingness to travel regularly across the West Coast region.
