Announcement of our new Rector – Craig Hardman
It is with great pleasure that I share with you that the College Council has appointed Mr Craig Hardman as the next Rector of Lindisfarne College, following a comprehensive and highly competitive process led by Sheffield Recruitment.
Craig is currently Associate Headmaster (School Operations) at St Paul’s Collegiate School in Hamilton. Over the past 16 years, he has served in a wide range of senior and middle leadership roles, including Acting Headmaster, Deputy Headmaster (Pastoral), Boarding Housemaster, and Head of Department. His experience spans curriculum design, pastoral care, boarding operations, staff development, and whole-school initiatives such as the introduction of Character Education, Hauora Wellbeing, and the Aspiring Leaders Programme.
Craig is recognised for his ability to lead through complexity and change, guiding schools and staff through periods of growth and challenge with steadiness and vision. As Lindisfarne moves to refresh its strategy, Craig brings a future-focused approach to educating boys in an ever-changing environment, equipping them with the skills, character, and adaptability needed for the workforce of tomorrow. His recent professional development includes the ISNZ Aspiring Principals Programme, executive training with the Institute of Directors and PwC, and study visits to leading schools in New Zealand and Australia to explore best practice in boarding, pastoral care, outdoor education, and student induction.
Craig shares:
“I am honoured to be appointed as the next Rector of Lindisfarne College. It is a privilege to lead a school that is both a proud boarding school and a place of rich tradition and strong values. My wife, Brooke, and our four children are excited to move to Hawke’s Bay and immerse ourselves fully in College and community life.”
Craig will begin his tenure at the start of 2026. In the months ahead, the Council will work closely with him to ensure a smooth transition, and there will be opportunities for staff to meet him in person.
