The Council operations are undergoing transformation with a new organisational structure to support these changes.  The objective being to deliver council services to a better standard, more quickly and more affordably to ratepayers.  A number of new positions arise from these changes and offer the unique opportunity to be in the vanguard of changes to local government service delivery.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Group Manager, Leisure and Recreation is a broad and newly developed role in the five-member executive team and will champion and deliver ICC’s commitment to leisure, recreation, arts and culture.  This role will lead the operation of ICC’s parks, aquatic, arts and library services to a high standard whilst excelling at meeting customer and community needs and developing the strategic direction of these services.  Leading 5 direct reports with a wider team of approximately 200, this senior role represents a real opportunity to shape this directorate, developing capability, encouraging collaboration and promoting customer-centric and positive culture, values and behaviours.

Desirable candidates will have sound experience at senior level in an operational, service focused role, ideally in local government or relevant sector.  Essential to this position is proven experience leading the service delivery of facilities for community and recreation, including some experience with redevelopment of facilities. Strategic planning, strong change leadership experience and the ability to negotiate, coupled with a track record of building positive stakeholder and community-based relationships are desired.
