Wellington is a vibrant, progressive and ambitious city, known globally as one of the best Capitals in which to work and live. The centre of government, Wellington is always humming with its diverse range of cultural, commercial, sporting and community activities. In this context, Wellington City Council (WCC) provides over 400 services to more than 200,000 residents and is committed to enhancing the wellbeing of everyone who lives here.
At this time, WCC is seeking to appoint a Chief Customer and Community Officer to lead a range of frontline City operations and services, ensuring they align with Council’s long-term direction and are delivered in a customer-focused, cost-effective way. The role dimensions are significant, incorporating the leadership of more than 1000 team members across a range of services: City Housing; Parks, Sport and Recreation; Arts, Culture and Community, including Libraries and City Safety; Parking Services, and Economic and Commercial Services.
Great candidates for this role will have experience leading in a local government setting of comparable complexity. With a strong service ethic, they will balance a range of financial and social bottom lines to deliver outstanding services that meet Wellingtonian’s needs now and into the future. An ability to forge strong, functional networks across Council, as well as effective relationships with Mana Whenua and external partners, will also be important for success in this role.
For those seeking a fantastic career opportunity in a dynamic local government setting, this role represents a compelling next career step.
