Reference Number: 7671aa
Location: Palmerston North
Palmy is a vibrant, progressive and ambitious city. It currently experiences growth in all sectors, and competes with other regional centres amidst technological and demographic change for capital, talent and visitors. In this context Palmerston North City Council provides services to over 90,000 residents, employing more than 600 staff across a broad range of functions. PNCC is delivering its vision for Palmerston North: small city benefits, big city ambition that will help the city achieve its potential, capitalise on its strengths, and thrive in the future.
Currently PNCC is seeking to appoint a Finance Manager, who will ensure the delivery of financial advice and effective financial management within the organisation. This is a critical leadership role, serving as a connector between finance strategy and its implementation, whilst enhancing internal stakeholders’ decision-making through the provision of expert financial advice.
Great candidates for this role will bring experience in a broadly comparable context, though a background in local government is not required. It will be important that the appointee has an ability to deliver sound, relevant policy advice and communicate effectively across a range of stakeholder groups. As a manger and as a finance SME, they will model the Unit’s commitment to providing advice that reflects a collaborative, business partnership approach. They will also be energised by this role’s mix of hands-on delivery, strategic input, and proactive people leadership.
For those seeking an exciting career challenge in a dynamic local government setting, this role represents a compelling next career step.
