Are you a globally recognised research leader with a passion for driving transformative change in chronic disease management? The University of Waikato invites you to lead the new Institute for Chronic Disease Research (ICDR), the first research institute in New Zealand to focus on the combined aspects that result in chronic disease.
The mission of the ICDR is to reduce the economic and societal burden of chronic disease through research into prevention, management, and cure. ICDR will conduct world-leading transdisciplinary research that will improve the lives of all New Zealanders.
As Director, you will be responsible for providing vision and leadership in the development and operation of the Research Institute's strategy, goals, and KPIs. A major focus will be building the cross-university team by fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing research environment. The Director is also responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to early- and mid-career researchers in high impact research.
Successful candidates will possess a PhD in a relevant discipline and must demonstrate Professorial level research achievement and recognition. You’ll have a strong track record of obtaining and delivering on external contract funding from commercial and government funding agencies, demonstrated research leadership involving research teams and oversight of successful research projects, and experience in strategy development and execution. You must be a strong team leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to support, develop, unite, and inspire researchers towards a shared mission.
You must have a PhD in a relevant discipline and professorial-level research achievement and recognition.
