Sheffield is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Watson as Chief Operating Officer at Pathlab, taking up a newly created executive role within the organisation.
Mark brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience across the United Kingdom and New Zealand, with a career spanning clinical practice, the military and senior executive leadership across both public and private healthcare.
Beginning his career in the Royal Air Force, where he served for 12 years as a SNCO Operating Department Practitioner, Mark subsequently moved into hospital management with BUPA Hospitals before emigrating to New Zealand in 2004.
Over the past 20+ years in New Zealand, Mark has held senior leadership/executive roles across a range of healthcare organisations, including Waikato and Waitematā DHBs, Braemar Hospital, Ormiston Hospital, TRG Imaging and Southern Cross Healthcare. Most recently, he has served as General Manager of Grace Hospital in Tauranga.
Mark brings extensive experience leading complex healthcare operations, organisational transformation, major facility developments, multi-site services and programmes of operational and cultural change. His collaborative and people-focused leadership style is complemented by a strong commercial focus and a passion for building high-performing teams and services.
As Chief Operating Officer, Mark will work closely with Pathlab’s Chief Executive and leadership team, taking responsibility for core operations and helping lead the organisation through its next phase of growth, integration and modernisation.
Having made Tauranga home, Mark is excited to continue his healthcare career in the Bay of Plenty.
