The General Manager Network is accountable for the strategic leadership, management, and performance of Electra’s electricity network.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the GM Network leads a team of 25+ professionals across engineering, planning, asset management, network operations, control room, and support functions, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable energy delivery to customers. A key focus is building and coaching your team, as well as driving a cultural change focussed on best practice network management, collaboration and customer-centricity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic leadership and management of the electricity network to ensure safety, reliability, capacity for growth, and that customer service levels are met now and into the future.
  • Leading the strategy and execution of best practice asset management and network development, including long term asset management planning and investment forecasting.
  • Overseeing major capital investments and delivery of annual work programmes.
  • Ensuring the Network Operations Team and Control Room provides safe and consistently high standards of access to the network, as well as driving continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Building strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including board, regulators, industry bodies, customers, service providers and industry peers.
  • Contributing to strategic leadership of Electra as part of the SLT.
  • Managing network financial performance and short- and long-term investment planning.
  • Leading the adoption of energy technologies to support growth, decarbonisation and future system needs.

What you’ll bring:

Candidates of interest will be future-focussed and point to strong commercial and people leadership experience, with a track record of building relationships and delivering results.  You will be known for your high energy levels, strong analytical skills and drive, as well as:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or similar technical discipline
  • Senior leadership experience in electricity distribution, utilities infrastructure or similar capital-intensive industry
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams and lead change
  • Deep understanding of regulatory environments and asset lifecycle management
  • Strong project management and programme delivery experience
  • Electricity sector experience is desirable; adjacent utilities infrastructure experience is also relevant.
