The Organisation
Lawset – a collective of seven respected law firms from across Aotearoa New Zealand – is seeking an experienced Membership Manager. In this newly created role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and grow a professional network from the ground up.
Reporting to the Chair of Lawset (Managing Principal of Saunders Robinson Brown Limited) and the member Board, you’ll serve as the cornerstone of operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of a “virtual office” and delivering real value to member firms. This is a leadership position suited for a proactive, organised professional who can work independently and is passionate about fostering collaboration in the legal sector.
The Role
- Act as the primary point of contact for Lawset member firms.
- Establish and manage Lawset’s virtual office infrastructure and systems and processes.
- Act as Board secretary, coordinating meetings, agendas and documentation to ensure effective governance.
- Design and lead initiatives to share knowledge, resources, and opportunities among member firms.
- Plan and deliver networking opportunities between member firms (including annual conferences and events).
- Oversee supplier agreements and partnerships on behalf of Lawset.
- Provide recommendations to the Board on opportunities for Lawset.
This is a part-time role between 15 to 19 hours per week. The appointment, which could be either an employee or an independent contractor, will have a variable workload, with the mid-year and October conferences demanding more time.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for a seasoned professional who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Key qualifications and attributes include:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building relationships and fostering collaboration across professional networks.
- Proven experience providing high-level support to senior leaders or Boards, including minute-taking, reporting, and follow-up coordination.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft suite, collaboration, on-line banking and website management platforms.
- Sound business administration skills with the ability to implement and maintain effective processes, systems, benchmarking and reporting.
- Experience planning and coordinating events and other networking and professional development opportunities initiatives.
- High standard of professional presentation.
- Preferably, a relevant tertiary qualification.
