About Us
Hutt International Boys' School (HIBS) is seeking an inspiring and values-driven Principal to lead our school into its next chapter. Founded in 1991 and located in Upper Hutt, HIBS is a state-integrated school for around 650 boys in Years 7 to 13. In our short history we have built a reputation for genuine achievement, consistently recording some of the strongest NCEA pass rates in the country.
As a multi-denominational school affiliated to the Anglican church, our culture is underpinned by a strong code of conduct grounded in Christian values, and our core values of Honour, Integrity, Belief and Service. We are looking for a leader who will bring these values to life every day, while driving academic, social and cultural excellence for every student.
About the role
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Principal will:
- Uphold and give effect to the school vision and special character; focused on enhanced engagement and outcomes for all students
- Enable a collaborative, high-performing culture where staff feel empowered to do their best work in ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning
- Build and maintain strong community and sector partnerships, profiling HIBS locally, nationally and internationally
- Support the continued implementation of Mātauranga Māori in teaching and learning and promote whānau-inclusive events
About you
You will champion the special character of Hutt International Boys' School, bringing knowledge of, and passion for, the education of boys in a secondary setting, along with senior leadership expertise within a New Zealand secondary school.
A trusted, visible, values-led leader, you are also an excellent communicator, known for setting clear direction and bringing out the best in staff and students alike.
Agile in your leadership, you will be adept at leading through change when required, bringing rigour to solving complex problems, and a steady commitment to student wellbeing and success.
