About the Company:

Aotea Electric Nelson Limited (AENL) is one of the leading electrical service companies in the Nelson region. Started in 2005, it has built a strong local reputation for quality workmanship, reliability and getting the job done across residential, commercial, industrial and manufacturing operations throughout the Nelson/Tasman Region.

Part of the wider Aotea Group, it is one of 29 businesses around New Zealand providing electrical, communications, fire alarms, heating and cooling services.

About The Role:

This is a hands-on leadership role running the HVAC department day to day.  Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll lead a team of 3 to 4 HVAC technicians, installers and apprentices across maintenance, installations and commercial projects.

You’ll run the work from quote to invoice, making sure every job is costed with a good margin, properly resourced and delivered on time and on budget.  You’ll set labour targets, track performance, oversee procurement and progress claims.

Growing the department is just as important and you’ll be driven to make AENL the most trusted HVAC provider in Nelson.  Great with customers you’ll look after existing clients, stay in regular contact with key decision makers in the region and successfully bring in new work.

A proven leader, you’ll set the standard for the team, running regular team meetings and reviews, developing skills, holding people to high standards of customer service and making sure everyone goes home safe.

Ideal Person:

You’ll have a solid HVAC background and proven experience delivering commercial HVAC projects.  You may have run your own business before and you’ll be comfortable overseeing budgets, margins and reporting against targets.

You’ve led a team before and know how to build a good crew.  You’re a straight talker, make decisions quickly, sort out problems before they grow, and can hold your own in a negotiation with clients and suppliers.

Good contacts in the Nelson and Tasman building and commercial market will be a real advantage, as will experience with simPRO or a similar job management system.
