Kāpuhipuhi Wellington Uni-Professional (WUPL) is on a bold journey to reshape professional learning across Aotearoa and beyond. We seek a visionary leader to navigate an exciting strategic transformation, building on strong foundations and scaling our impact as a vital asset to the University.

Strategic Impact and Vision

As CEO, you will shape WUPL's next chapter of growth, aligning our programmes with the University’s strategic priorities and embedding WUPL as the market-responsive gateway for professional learning. You'll oversee overall financial performance and strategic investment, building an organisation where resources are aligned to maximise impact and opportunity. With a budgeted turnover of $30 million in 2026, this role requires strategic leadership, influence, and flawless execution to ensure WUPL continues to empower learners and strengthen the University’s professional footprint.

Leadership, Culture, and Collaboration

You will lead a small, agile team, fostering a culture of collaboration, self-organisation, and shared accountability. A key focus is to actively champion the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, embedding bicultural and inclusive practice across operations and learning design. You will serve as the University’s interface to the professional market, collaborating with Deans and Faculties to co-design non-degree programmes and develop crucial lifelong learning pathways. Building and maintaining constructive relationships with University leadership, public sector leaders, and industry partners will be essential for effective governance and strategic responsiveness.

What You Bring

You are a strategic, forward-thinking leader with exceptional commercial acumen and a deep belief in customer focus. You excel at relationship building and leverage innovation to generate creative ideas and improve the status quo. Your ability to digest technical information, distil commercial benefits, and make sound judgements is critical. You will model professionalism and a lifelong learning mindset, ensuring high standards of performance for yourself and others.
