About The Role: 

Saunders Robinson Brown (SRB) is a respected full-service law firm with a strong reputation for delivering expert legal advice and building lasting client relationships. From commercial and property law to dispute resolution, employment, trusts and estates and family law, our team is known for its professionalism, integrity, and people-first culture.  The firm has offices in Christchurch and Rangiora.

We are looking for a strategic, commercially astute Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational engine of our firm and help shape its future.

The COO is a key member of the leadership team, and will be responsible for:

  • Leading firm-wide operations – Finance, People and Culture, IT, compliance, marketing and brand, facilities and operations, risk and insurance and more.
  • Driving strategic initiatives – Partnering with the Managing Partner to deliver on firm strategy and performance.
  • Championing our culture – Fostering a collaborative, values-led workplace where people thrive.
  • Strategic Leadership – Develop and drive firm-wide initiatives, partner performance, and continuous improvement.

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Preferably a tertiary qualification in accountancy, commerce, or an MBA.
  • Proven leadership in senior operational or general management roles, ideally within professional services.
  • A track record of success delivering and implementing strategy in a business.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a team
  • Strong financial acumen and skills in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Commercially astute and strategically minded, with strategic planning capability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in managing projects, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with AML compliance, trust account operations, and legal practice systems (preferred).
  • A collaborative, values-driven leadership style with high integrity and sound judgment.
