About The Role: 

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Finance leads ITR's finance function and is the organisation's senior finance voice to the CEO and Board. The role manages the day-to-day financial accounting functions of the Theatre, ensuring accurate financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The role is for 30 hours a week.

The role also establishes best practice systems and processes to optimise financial management and reporting, enhances the financial capability of ITR's managers, and provides company secretary services as required, supporting the preparation of Board reports and papers.


The Ideal Person

As the ideal candidate you will be highly analytical, able to interpret and analyse financial data to inform sound planning and decision making. You will be a stickler for detail, able to deliver on time and to a high standard.

A confident communicator you will be comfortable working with a diverse range of people and will actively provide support and advice to the CEO and Heads of Departments to enhance their financial forecasting and monitoring. You will be comfortable working with high autonomy in a sole-charge or small-team environment, providing day-to-day direction to the Finance Administrator.

In addition, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (a CA would be an advantage)
  • 5+ years’ post-qualification experience in financial and management accounting, ideally in a nonprofit, arts, or entertainment setting
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting practices including Charities Act.
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with accounting software Xero is essential.
  • Experience reviewing and implementing systems and processes to optimise financial management and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with the Board and team members.
